Data-centre Infrastructure -
Keeping Your Data Safe & Secure – At All Times
Key to the design philosopy of our online backup data-centres, N+1 provision allows us to provide the the most resilient operating environments available in the marketplace.
With an independent stand-by systems in-place, in addition to the normal operating facilities, we aim to minimise any risk to disruption of our customer's business.
Online Secure Backup – POWER
As well as being located near to major telecommunication and data networks, our data-centres operate in the most diverse and power resilient position. Our aim is eliminate external and internal power supply issues for the data centre, backed by resolute fail-safe procedures. Standard features within our datacentres include:
- Comprehensive planned preventative maintenance schedule, constant testing and maintenance
- Primary HV power provision, designed to N+1 minimum
- On site sub-stations
- Room LV switchboards to manage power distribution
- N+1 Uninterruptible Power Supply
- Power surge management
- Power consumption metering
- Power Monitoring Systems and Building Reporting Systems with real-time alarm reporting of error conditions
- Two separate mains power supplies
- Uninterruptible Power Supply
- Spare UPS units
- Back up generators - min' 24 hours autonomy at full capacity
- Spare generator units
- Sufficient fuel on site to run for days in case of an emergency
- 24/7 on site engineers
Online Secure Backup – Management Control Systems
Sophisticated control systems are utilised in all of our data-centres. Critical aspects such as power supply, temperature, humidity, security and access, as well as fire and smoke are monitored continuously. We can monitor aspects such as:
- Planned Preventative Maintenance
- System operating performance
- Audio & visual alarms
- 24/7 On-site monitoring by management team
Online Secure Backup – FIRE PREVENTION
State of the art fire detection systems, built to N1+ standards are installed in our data-centres. These help to minimise the chance of fire breaking out. In the unlikely event that it does occur, aragonite or inergen gas suppression technology means that the flames are put out rapidly without interfering or damaging sensitive electrical equipment. Standard protocols include:
- 24/7 On-site staff monitoring fire detection systems
- Fire detection and suppression systems linked to Management System
- VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus)
- Three-stage fire detection systems in all areas
- Fire alarms and wet-pipe sprinkler systems
- Fire detection in all rooms, below raised floors and in ceiling
- Double interlocked pre-action sprinkler system
- Gas extraction, pressure relief and ventilation systems
Online Secure Backup – Controlled Environment
Our online backup facilities provide the optimum operating environment. Key aspects such as temperature and humidity are monitored to ensure hardware components operate efficiently and reliably. Our operating environment include:
- Room Air Conditioning Units
- Planned Preventative Maintenance, reporting year round
- Primary cooling infrastructure, linked to Management System
- Regulated humidity within a constant range
- Heat-flow dynamics models
- Chilled HVAC system with no hazardous refrigerants
- Minimum N+1 stand-by on all cooling systems
- 24/7 on-site engineers
Online Secure Backup – Connectivity
Our data-centres allow the most efficient technology for online backup and retrieval. Our facilities are located in close proximity to major telecommunication and data networks, and feature a growing number of peering points. We ensure:
- Access to multiple telecommunications providers
- Minimum of 2 MMR’s for high-speed connectivity
- Strict cable management structures
- Satellite and antennae space
- Multiple fibre entry ducts into facility
- Splicing chambers and draw pits
- Multiple connection points for each location
Online Backup Service – SECURITY
Multi-level security infrastructures balance the security requirements of our customers. The principle features of our security strategy include:
- Secure door access controls at main site and building entrances
- Proximity activation cards to authorise access levels
- Movement logs on all proximity card usage
- CCTV cameras and image archiving
- Intruder detection alarms and additional detection technology
- Security systems linked to management systems
- 24/7 monitoring
- Secure vehicle entrance barriers
